Jams In Tabor City – Thanksgiving Entertainment and Hay Rides

Kettle Creek is the band that I played in at Albert Hall.  Its disbanded now.

I have stumbled upon a group of young men who play bluegrass and I’m hoping to do some good picking and singing while here at Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground here in Tabor City.  Jesse Coleman is a family member of the folks who built with the own hands this campground and won the best in the nation award for the Yogi Bear chain.

I can tell you the campground is very nice.  Every pad has a concrete slab and 50 amps and sewer.  The television reception is pretty bad, but we did not come to watch TV and fortunately I get CBS which is the station my Daughter Jennifer’s show – Cold Case – is on.  There are several lakes all stocked with fish, and each lake has a different kind.  There are trails in the woods for bike riding or juiced up golf carts or walking and listening and watching.

If you listen real well you might here our banjos, fiddles and mandolin’s and guitars and voices.  Listen real good now, ya hear.

There is a group of gospel singers coming this weekend and the campground will be crowded for the Thanksgiving weekend so there might be a chance to do some singing publicly.

And Ric Coleman, who I believe is the owner, asked if our family might get on the hay ride on Thanksgiving and drive through the camp.  I agreed since we will be dressed in costumes – Pilgrims and Indians – and it will be good fun for the Grandkids and the folks who are here.

I plan to video the dinner we are planning.

May your grass be blue and the wind be always at your back.

Would you like to join us?

Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain By Willie Nelson Song By Bob Johnson

Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain is soothing love song.  I hope you enjoy it.  I recorded it with a Panasonic Digital camcorder on a tripod.  I used the highest quality video setting I could find.

The idea for the black backdrop came from a book on Pod Casting I just read.  It makes a huge difference in the video quality.

I hope you enjoy the song.

PS:  This is an audio file recorded on Pro Tools simultaneously.  blue-eyes-crying-in-the-rain  Its an MP3 and you are more than welcome to download it.

Kettle Creek Band Performs John Henry and Mountain Dew At Albert Hall

Kettle Creek Band

Kettle Creek is a real place in North Central Pa. and they hold an annual music festival that you can find here.  Kettle Creek Band in New Jersey is not related to the Festival.

There is another Kettle Creek Band on the West Coast, Kettle Creek Bluegrass Band on West Coast that the author became aware of after getting hats and shirts for the Albert Hall version of Kettle Creek Band.

This video is of the opening two numbers when Kettle Creek Band of Albert Hall performed.  It is probably the only time the band will perform.  It is going to take a new form or a new name soon.

Rich Favretto is on Banjer, Bob Johnson and John Brown are singing and playing guitar, and Randy Bailey is on the bass.

Thanks again to Kaffe Magnum Opus specialty coffee roaster for sponsoring the band.

Go Lassie Go Performed By The Frobisher Bay Volunteers

Go Lassie Go

Go Lassie Go is a song made famous  in America by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.  The Frobisher Bay Volunteers, formed in 1965, sang it up and down the Hudson Valley, New York, while they attended Marist College.  The group was well known from Albany to Long Island.

Four Strong Winds By The Frobisher Bay Volunteers

Four Strong Winds

The Harmonies in this song are tightly woven and well sung.  Jack Burke is the music director and was able to fit five harmonies together.  This song has 4, since Rich McKay was unable to join us the day we recorded.

I have to thank kmocoffee.com for supporting this effort.  I know everyone is very busy but the support is much appreciated.

If you’d like to know a bit more about the Frobisher Bay Volunteers you’ll find the information about the group and Sir Martin Frobisher at The Frobisher Bay Volunterrs Site and information about Bob at Bob Johnson

Four Green Fields By Tommy Makem Sung By Frobisher Bay Volunteers

Four Green Fields

Tommy Makem wrote this magnificent song about the troubles in Ireland, now, in 2008, largely behind us.  Tommy died a few months back and I put the song I’d sung in 1989 together with some slides.  Its sung by Bob Johnson, who also played Guitar.

This song is also posted on YouTube with a 5 star rating and over 4200 hits.

Coffee Prevents … Diabetes and other scary stuff

I received this article from a posting by Jeff at PT’s Coffee.  He may not remember me, but we spent some time together in Guatemala several years ago.  The article is located here on WEBMD.  Thanks Jeff.

I’m a coffee roaster by trade and I’m always happy to read of new studies about coffee’s contribution to our lives.  KMO started in the mid 1990’s and followed by a couple of years my first coffee venture, Coffee Time.
